Capistrano Beach — known locally as Capo Beach — is Dana Point's southernmost coastal neighborhood, bordered by Doheny State Beach to the north and San Clemente to the south along Pacific Coast Highway. The neighborhood covers approximately 2.1 square miles and is one of the few remaining "true beach town" enclaves in South Orange County, with a residential character largely free of the tourist density that defines some other coastal communities.

The housing stock in Capistrano Beach is notably varied: Beach Road offers a rare collection of over 185 oceanfront homes directly on the sand, while Palisades sub-area homes sit on elevated bluffs with ocean views ranging from partial to panoramic. Inland streets feature a mix of classic beach cottages (some dating to the 1920s), mid-century homes, and more recently built residences.
